Mid-day Monday Meteor

02/14/2011 6:19 PM

Anybody on the east coast of North America happen to be looking up around lunchtime? Did you see it?

That's quite a neat database, just the ticket for capturing many dispersed observations. Many years ago, I saw a bolide from Yakima, WA. My companions and I estimated it was about 10 miles away, possibly an aircraft "flaming out" on its way to the Yakima Firing Center, as it was then known. How wrong we were!--the object was near Yellowstone Park. It was a very bright full-daylight sighting.

I wish I would have seen this one; the reports of sightings are all around me.

Mid 1994 I experienced what I believe to be the Yakima lights over Richland, WA. A large ball formed in brightness comparable to the Moon then waves of light came over the sky. Amazing!

I was living in Prosser in mid-'94, but this never came to my attention.
