Is this 1 miliwatt or 1 MegaWatt?

Fuel consumption rate for any gas turbine is inherent with its designer or maker.-This is for actual "gas turbine". Yet, the best designed gas turbine, is one which approach close, carnot efficiency. Knowing the carnot effeciency at a two heat source (operating and surrounding temperature)

Ideally you could approach this by estimation using carnot effeciency say for about optimum 30%, losses due to mechanical transmission factor (.95) and combustion effeciency (90%).

brake power of turbine

BP = 1MW

this will be something like (Calorific Value of Fuel, BTU/L)(Fuel consumtion, L/sec ) = (BP/(0.3)(0.95)(0.9)) BTU/sec

My apology, i am not so conversant with the usual/common units, but if you solve something like this, all you need is to be consistent with the unit you are using.

Please do not memorize the formula, but,it is always a must for you to know the process "how's & why's" first. Knowing those, its very easy to recall such formula, it will be made by your logical thinking.

The process is

Fuel -> combustion -> mechanical transmission -> Brake Mechanical Power

if its coupled with a genset then:

Fuel-> combustion -> mechanical transmission -> Brake Mechanical Power ->generation of electricity

Along the way, you have losses to consider like combustion losses , mechanical losses due to friction & generator efficiency. This will tend to make the energy of your source big enough to compensate these losses.

A 1MW gas turbine surely will need >1MW fuel consumption, this is certain.

To make your learning a detailed one, please read power plant books and master thermodynamics.

Either ask someone who has a, "1 mw gas turbine', or ask someone who sells them.

How could you possibly expect an answer to such a broad, general question?
