House resolution 748.IH submitted couple of days ago prohibits the secretary of the DoT from authorizing the use of any ethanol mixed fuel exceeding 10% in light-duty vehicles, light-duty trucks, and medium-duty passenger vehicles. The bill has fifteen sponsors, so apparently has some traction. I don't understand why we spent so damned much time and human energy on ethanol, gave subsidies and underwrote an entire industry just to basically ban the use less that ten years later.
At the same time, there are two others trying to promote and expand ethanol, one to remove production incentives, one to maintain the current state, and one that wants the EPA, insurance industry, etc. to take a hard look at the overall effect of ethanol production, use and passive effects overall.
