Family, work, school, design competitions and other projects have kept my dad and me pretty busy for the last several months. I have been neglecting my job of developing the media for the Doyle Rotary so the videos have not been updated. My dad has been able to occasionally whittle out some parts for the prototype.
We are still very busy with school and work but the immediate priorities come in April: my engineering design competition is April 2 and my dad has been approved to be an exhibitor at the 2011 SAE World Congress occurring April 12-14.
My dad has put the prototype on the back burner while he makes display models for the exhibit. He is in the process of making a mock-up version of the engine that shows the external size of a 2.3L Doyle Rotary (the dimensions of the outer housing are: diameter: 13.5" and length: 9" and the weight of the entire engine would be 46 pounds (picture this tiny 2.3L engine in a car or bike)). He is also machining a couple of illustrative models that will help to visualize the Doyle cycle.
I am busy finalizing the design for my contest. After finishing that I will finally get back to making the rest of the final video. I'm also in charge of the various media that will be printed to hand out at the congress.
The $7500 package that we purchased at the exhibit gives us a 10' x 10' space, exhibitor passes and 26 free guest passes (each pass is normally $250).
If you will be or can be in Detroit between April 12-14 and would like to have one of our free passes, contact us (email, PM, or here on the forum) and we will send you the instructions for getting your pass. You could come meet us in person and check out parts of the current prototype, the old prototype, the new models and tour the rest of the SAE Exhibits. Hope to see some of you there!
