What is the Best Material for Filtration in Hot Air Ducting?

02/18/2011 2:32 AM

I want to select material for filter for hot air ranging from 200°C to 300°C. And what is the known brand name or supplier for such kind of filter?

High pressure air? Low pressure? What volume/cfm? What are you try to filter i.e. what micron size? What size of duct/pipe are you using?

I Googled "high temp air filters" and got "About 6,940,000 results

(0.18 seconds) "

Now, really, is that too much effort for you??????????????????

Then, go ahead. You tell them which supplier they should use, based on the mountains of useful information they have provided.

I didn't feel I had anything useful to contribute to the OP, either in the form of an answer, potential answers, or questions.

So, I didn't.

Neither did I, beyond my first post and my usual "lazy bastard" rant.

Cheers.

Hehe..I want to ask for your opinion. The filter supposed to "not so micron size".It actually for big particle. The hot air is at low pressure about 0.4 psig and 36890 cfm. The duct id is 25". I was thinking to use perforated steel like in y-strainer (just 1 layer) and the position is normal to flow of the hot air. So, any comment?

Kind of a large PD for perferated metal, although it might need the strength depending on velocity of the gas. I was going to suggest a SS woven wire screen or mesh.

Try www.mcnichols.com for product data.

My mistake. The flowrate is only 6148 cfm. But anyway, your suggestion really helpful. Thanks.

Keep in mind that perforated metal or screens are not true filters, and will only take out sticks, stones and larger debris. Dust and fine particles will pass through the relatively large openings. What are you trying to filter out of the gas stream?
