ABB Contactors New Energy Saving Range

02/18/2011 5:54 AM

Any body else out there having problems with the new ABB contactors launched autumn 2010. The coils are not strong enough to hold the contacts fully closed and you can open the contacts manually with very little effort - sometimes a tap on the side of the contactor will suffice, even then the coil does not have enough power to reclose? This problem has occurred with separate batches and ABB just keep sending us more of the same. Still awaiting their response.

How better to save energy than simply drop out the motor? Looks like a successful strategy to me.

In 1995 in Saudi Arabia we started using ABB instead of Telemecanique due to lower price and experienced problems.

YOu are right!

Day by day, ABB quality is dwindling! They can't even manufacture light switches as good as some of the local makes here!

In a Type-testing of 4000A ACB, it failed for temp. rise test at ASTA, Sydney even though it was specially manufactured in Italy for TT........ Terasaki ACB helped us out!

Lots of stories & reasons to reject....
