Absolute Pressure Transmitter

02/18/2011 2:54 PM

I wanted to calibrate a absolute pressure transmitter,0 to 1500 mbar range,in normal condition its showing 1015 mbar .if I add 485 the ammeter showing 20 ma. How I can calculate the ma for 1000 mbar,900 mbar,and 500 mbar. Please help me.

In this case a 1500 mbar range is proportional to a 16 ma range (4-20ma) so 1000 mbar divided by 1500 mbar is two thirds (or 0.6667) and 16 ma multiplied by two thirds is 10.67 add 4 which is the 16ma current ranges offset from zero and you can see that 1000 mbar in should give 14.67 ma output.

Ace's procedure in arithmetic:

[(mbar value/1500) * 16ma] + 4mA = mA at that mbar value

0mbara = 4mA or 0mA?

Whichever, once it's known, it's a simple arithmetical interpolation exercise to calculate the remainder.

Let me guess. Your dog ate the operators manual.

And what, in the original query, clued you in to the fact that the transducer does, in fact, have a linear response?

It seems that about 97% of the people using the word 'calibrate' on this forum mean

- setting the upper range or lower range value

- checking the transmitter's output value against 'something else'. Whether you or I would consider the 'something else' a traceable standard is questionable; in part because there's rarely, if ever, any dialogue with the OP beyond an initial query by a Guest.

The real issue comes out with the question inquiring what a pressure's corresponding mA output value is. Very close to homework.

first check absolute pressure how much and use this formula:-add this your value showing reading (actual reading) - lower range divided by upper range - lower range after multiply by 16 and add 4 = you will get correct answer and if suppose you will not get value and transitter make zero trim from hart communicator

Hi, all if you try to calibrate the xmtr and you don't know were to start, call the snr technician and will be able to help you on this problem? Or dial the vendor number ask them to do the job for you and get your boss to pay the service?
