Is anyone serious?

04/03/2007 12:18 PM

I joined CR4 to get serious info about Automtive Part Industry problems and possible solutions, what do I get? Fix it with SuperGlue? What kind of an answer is that? If that is all you can offer than I may as well go to Comedy Central.

Well, I assume you're referring to this thread. If so, you really can't expect a valuable response when your entire post reads:

"To anyone that has information or problems with rubber to metal applications."

end of post....

/Rant on/
What kind of answer did you expect to such a non-question? Or are you compiling a list of people who have dealt with rubber to metal applications - because that's the only thing you could possibly get from such a poorly worded question.

Don't berate users of this site because they can't glean what you are looking for. You didn't take the time to put together a serious post, so why should we take the time to develop a well thought out answer. If the responses you received were flippant, it's your fault for not providing a serious question.

TELL US WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!

GIVE SPECIFICS!

DON"T MAKE US DRAW A QUESTION OUT OF YOU!

/rant off/

Simply put, develop a question and post it with as many relevant variables as possible. I'm sure there's a specific question you want answered, so ask it as fully as possible. Most people here want to help, but you have to give them something they can work on.

Silas Marner's right. I didn't answer your post precisely because of the vagueness of the question. With the amount of information you provided, the SuperGlue answer was as valid as any other and it seemed to have been given in all seriousness.

If you've read other posts that did the same thing (didn't offer enough info), you'll find a lot of negative reactions. Some were considerate but several were cruel. I've been guilty of that sometimes.

Stay around, Chuck. There's lots to see and learn here.

I love to help people, that's why I joined. But I shy away from non-questions and all too often I think I see the question, but read about 9 answers that are all around the question without answering it.

I'll answer your original question here, now that I know enough to provide some help.

Try the Loctite people, they are very good at providing solutions and they have an Automotive division.

If someone answered your question with "super glue" they were probably on the right track. I have had to bond plastics such as teflon or turcite to sst and the only thing that I could find to do it was a cyanoacrylate made by Locktite. Comercially this is known as "super glue".
