Switchyard interface

02/22/2011 4:53 AM

We have 2 switchyard's.Both are interconnecting by a SF6 breaker. Interconnecting breaker capacity is 3150A. For both the switchyard's voltage level is same, but switchyard 1 bus current carrying capacity is 2000A whereas for 2 capacity is 3150A. In this case, how the load transfer will takes place?

Add all the concurrent load amperages on each side of the bus; that will tell you how it balances.

this means they are not identical capacity switchyards, they are built and interfacing is provided only as a backup for the smaller capacity one, where viceversa is not allowed.

having same voltage doesn't means are of the same capacity, you have to provide more details in order to get a better idea, as which is the incoming and how they are interconnected and their loads, etc.
