Look at the label on the back of your can of paint. It should include details like recommended number of coats, dry time, preparation, clean up, etc.

On the front of your can of paint, there should be the name of a manufacturer. They probably have a web site with a FAQ list, technical support number, etc. Hope this helps.

Do you mean zinc rich paint? If so, kramarat has your answer. Or, you can look here: MIL-P-21035B

Or do you mean actual galvanization, which is a chemical process? ASTM A123/A123M-09

And, if you are repairing a galvanized structure, ASTM A780 covers Repair of Damaged and Uncoated Areas of Hot-Dip Galvanized Coatings.

For general questions on galvanizing, I refer to this site:

American Galvanizers Association While mostly a members/users site, there is some pretty good information there.

Try this site, under literature it gives you the different specs, amount of coating thickness etc.

www.galvanising.org.uk

Galvanized fasteners should be stored under dry, well-ventilated conditions to minimise the occurrence of wet storage stain.

From site mentioned above.
