Asphalt vs Spray Seal

Hello, What is the difference between asphalt and spray seal? From application, construction & pros/cons point of view?

Asphalt is used to construct roads, parking lots and other surfaces that must be thick enough to support the weight of vehicles.

Spray seal is what you put on old asphalt to make it last longer.

There is no comparison between the two. Totally different materials/applications.
