So, when the CEL reported trouble after you replaced the MAF sensor, what was the trouble code? It may very well be a different problem.

8 years old is kind of middle aged for most cars today, particularly a Mercedes. It is a bit unusual for anyone, particularly a Mercedes owner, to be doing their own repairs and troubleshooting. You have a fine pedigree vehicle that seems to me to be just starting to show its age. What could be next, almost anything or nothing.

ACTUALLY...YES THE CAR HAS BEEN A REALLY GREAT CAR...NO COMPLAINTS TILL NOW..AFTER HAVING OWNED A CORVETTE THAT GAVE ME SENSOR PROBLEMS EVERY WEEK ...I LEARNED THAT ITS BETTER TO KNOW WHAT THE CODES ARE TELLING YOU BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO A DEALER WHERE THEY CHARGE YOU FOR THINGS IT DOESNT REALLY NEED.. THANKS

Soooo,

If you interrogate the car today, what trouble codes does it give you?

Have you tried to google it ?

http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=CEL+on+2003+c240+mercedes&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&ie=utf8&oe=utf8&rlz=1I7ADFA_en&redir_esc=&ei=CQlyTbHeOszHsgb74YmEDg

found these for you to look at i havent checked them i will leave that for you to do

could it have been the air intake pipe is loose or air being sucked in between maf and inlet manifold ie air leak
