Parallel Parking or Bay Parking?

03/04/2011 11:20 AM

Having recently read a blog entry called "Parking: Do You Nose-In or Back-In?" from CarDomain, I started wondering:- Do people prefer to parallel park or bay park?

From what little experience I've got, this greatly depends upon the type of parking a person is forced to use on a regular basis (i.e. people in cities have to parallel park the majority of the time, but those in small villages use bays).

When I was learning to drive I was taught to do both, even though bay parking does not appear in the driving test where I was taking my test; however, as it is on a very rare occasion that I am forced to parrallel park, I'm now very bad at it. Given a choice I'll bay park, even in tight turning spaces.

So, do you prefer parallel parking or bay parking?

I prefer using a circular drive where I can pull in and out going forward. Otherwise BAY.

I'm not sure you get a choice in most situations.

I only bay park when I'm in my boat.

Speaking of bays, If a seagull flies over the sea, what flies over a bay?

I don't get the option to parallel as often as I once did. I now find I must be more careful than I used to. NYC is loads with one way streets. One must learn to parallel park on the wrong side of the street also. I had an aunt that lived on a curve. Parallel parking in front of her house was also different. One way streets on curves would be the worst. I can not remember any though.

A bagel.

I prefer bay parking over parallel parking any day!

Even in small villages with narrow streets, trying to get into and out of a parallel parking spot can be a challenge. You are extremely lucky if the people lining up behind you are patient enough to allow you the parking attempt. Most of the time they are not, and they zoom right around you thereby foiling any and all attempts to back into a space!!!! $astards!!!!
