Condenser of 330 mw

03/08/2011 7:33 PM

In our 330 mw turbine from baijing beizong steam turbine generator co.ltd. in that condenser 2 passes are there in the 1st pass heavy leakage came From sea water (cooling water) side. we want to isolate from 1st pass without trip the unit which isolation should be required (is it necessary to do isolation of vacuum pump to condenser line of isolating pass?).

Let me understand correctly your point.

Your condenser consists of two parts (LP rotor is double flow rotor?) and in one part you discover leakage of cooling water. This is a tube leakage, I think.

(How do you know that this leakage is in place?)

You want to attend this leakage with unit in service.

If this is the tube leakage you need to find leaking tube and plug it, to do it you have to be inside the condenser and looking for leaking tubes while the cooling water side is under pressure. Is it possible to isolate flow steam to enter this part of condenser? I do not think so. It means the shutdown is necessary.

Please confirm if I am right with my way of thinking, especially with condenser construction.

It should be possible to isolate this part of cooling tubes but unit cannot be operated with full load.

Anyway, this should be described in turbine operation manual.

I have some solution in my mind how to do it with unit in operation but first please confirm what I mentioned above,

actually the water leakage is from the vent of water box (not from tube) and that particular pass i want to isolate and leakage is so heavy so without isolating that i am not able to do work on that(Is it required to isolate particular pass vacuum suction line) .i can decrease the load but i cant trip the unit.

It means that you have external leakage of cooling water and this water is not going to condenser and later is not mixed with condensate.

I think that with no pictures I cannot propose solution or this what I have in my head has no use in your case.

Is it possible for you to send some pictures?

Where do you have the leakage exactly? The weld, the passing valve... .

There isn't much you can do without shutting down the machine unless the the leaking point can be isolated. Can you supply a diagram or something to show the leaking point. Also you can live with the leak until your next planned outage but this will cost money in terms of the high make-up that you will have to put into the system. To reduce the water cost find a way to recover the leaking water and pump it back into the system.

we attended that leakage by decreased the loads up to 50% and isolate that condenser pass from cw side and arrest that leakage but we didn't isolate vacuum side.ok thanks
