ronald; neutral carries max unbalance current, the term 1/2 neutral is new to me, i've know of the super neutral, where there are in use many switching power supplies or non linear loads. perry

Most power transformers will have most of the load balanced across the 3 phases, therefore the neutral wiring cores can be reduced. Many large cables will be 3½ cores.

Term full neutral or half neutral refers to the size of the neutral conductor. When you have a full neutral it is the same size as the phase conductors. Half neutral is 1/2 the size of the phase conductors. With a balanced 3 phase load, the neutral conductors carries little or no amperage. Therefore you may choose to use a 1/2 neutral cable.

Due to harmonics sometimes neutral should be larger than phase.
