Why Do We Have to Earth an RMU When Carrying Out Maintenance?

03/13/2011 5:05 PM

I know that this is for safety reasons, And that the incoming and outgoing cables must be connected to earth. What i want to know is what is the potential hazard if this is not done.

What i want to know is what is the potential hazard if this is not done.

Quite simply, a potential current path through the maintenance worker holding a potentially livened cable and ground = serious electric shock or death.

If you know it's for safety reasons why are you asking the question?

During testing earths may be removed. But this is to be done by a suitably qualified engineer.
