03/14/2011 9:42 PM

Hello, my car runs ruff in the morning when I start it. It had been sitting for 2 days, while driving the car it just shut-off and the Engine light came on.... I waited for about 20mins it started and I drove it to the shop.. My spark plugs were change at 100,000 but not the wires,,,,I am hoping its the wires or somehting not over 2,000....Dose anyone have any idea on whats going on with my car?

Thank You

If you could get the dtc that is stored when the engine light came on it would give us all more information to be able to make n educated guess since e are diagnosing at long distance. The members here have a lot of knowledge stored in their minds but we can't use it if we have no input to allow us to use that knowledge. Its like asking some I have a flat tire and expecting us to tell you which position the flat one is in. So give us something to work with and we will attempt to help.

Have the shop check the ignition module if it has one. It should be in or around the distributor. These like to go bad.

DTC stands for diagnostic trouble code and to pull them you need to have it plugged into a OBD2 scanner. Most auto part stores will plug in and read the codes and give them to you. where they come from is the onboard computer monitors a multitude of sensors in the vehicle and if they give readings outside of the allowable range then it will store a code in the computer which allows a technician to progress through a diagnostic tree of test and will guide you to the faulty system. It sounds extremely complex but if there are more than one code stored then a good tech can usually determine the problem from experience and knowledge of how all of the systems talk to each other.

I am going to bet that either you are out of gas or the crankshaft position sensor is bad.
