Reliability Specialist

03/15/2011 12:29 PM

Whats the regulatory requirement or best practice on the number of access points using (i) Interior ladders through roof hatches (ii) external caged ladders for ingress and egress to a load bearing roof of an industrial building/structure of at least 6m high. Requirement per sq.m or per sqft of building area or per meter high will be helpful.

State the applicable codes or standards including OHAS that may apply.

andyegbase,

You can't be serious.

This question is an insult to the forum.

The very question demonstrates a total lack of knowledge of the subject on your part.

Do you want the requirements for the entire planet, or do you have a location in mind.

Ok, I'll go first. Is it northern hemisphere, or southern?

andyegbase, we shall try again.

andyegbase, where is this project located (city and country)?

andyegbase, what is OHAS?

andyegbase, it appears the question is copied from a specification (or perhaps something else). Will you tell us what it is? And remember, extra points for being honest.

OK, I'll give it a shot:

OHAS = OSHA???????

Beyond that, I'm out.

Well, there are 203 sovereign nations (more or less) in the world, and a body called OSHA only has regulatory authority in USA and Malaysia.

I just don't really know.

We have seen this guy at CR4 before. I doubt an OSHA-like body is watching close

wherever he is at.

This looks like a perfect application for the LynDoor™ Industries Random Answer Generator # 7-come-11.

Simply input a few simple vague assumptions and, out comes an answer.

In the interests of helping this student do its hoemwork, i wil add my twosents. I only use one ladder, access hole per trip the roof. Best practice on the ground until you get it right.
