Mating of ASME Flanges to ISO Valves - Water Service

03/16/2011 1:58 AM

Guys,

could anyone lead me to the right direction. I'm in a project where from our client's specification require's an ISO 5752 valve specifically. Now, our contractor specifies mating flange to be ASME B16.5. Will anyone here advice me if this practice could be done?

I'm in the opinion that ISO valves should mate to ISO flanges as well as the other. I don't have the ISO 5752 standards that's why I cannot verify if there is a big difference mating to the ASME. Our line size covers 24" and 28" water pipeline and around 10-12numbers of ball and butterfly ISO 5752valves will be used.

Please advice.

pap..

Tell you cheap boss to purchase the appropriate Codes and Standards necessary for you to do your job.

Tell him that he is a disgrace to PMPs and MBAs everywhere.

Explain to him how you cannot dig a hole without shovels and pickaxes, and that if he cannot understand this metaphor, he should go back to the sales department from which he came...

Tell him that an unknown person on the internet told you this....

In case of it's too late, i.e. the ISO valves are there you can add flanged spool pieces uo and downstream of each valve.

Each spool should have 1 ISO flange and 1 ASME flange. This will give you the chance to connect different standards connections.

No problem. I know it's nice to be acknowledged.

But don't get too thrilled. It takes 2 GA's per answer, to get credit for it

GA. Right on. What Anon#1 said. If your business is dealing with piping, you need access to the info and standards. No one has them memorized in entirety. Either way, you need to be sure so you can back up your decision with undeniable facts.
