Tips for cutting, HOW?

Do you want to split it, or cut it off into washer like disks??? If disks, how thick?

I'll take a shot. Carnac says "put the tube in a lathe and a 1/2 OD bar in the ID and slice with razor blade".

How many do you want to cut? (per day)

What is the hardness of the rubber?

How "square" do you ned the ends to be?

What is your tolerance on length?

Are there any longitudinal re-inforcing fibers in the wall section?

You will need to know the answers to these questions for a reasonable answer to your question. If you are to cut "heaps" of them, then I would imagine a shear rather than bandsaw being used. (No fluffy scrap to contaminated the pieces.)

I don't know where in the world you are located, but SUBA engineering could probably spec out a tube cutting machine from TECA for you.

We used a slightly modified wire cutting machine to cut around 2000 pieces per day of a thin walled tube with good results.

For smaller quantities, you could build a small guillotine to "chop" them (just like slicing paper).
