CR4 posts using Google Chrome.

03/31/2011 7:41 PM

I was just curious if there is something we can do to allow for text formatting in Google Chrome when writing a post. Any time I wish to write anything other than a one or two liner I have to fire up Internet Explorer (which I never use other than for this reason) to get the formatting options. Are there other users experiencing this problem, or am I just doing something horribly wrong. I cant even get a space between paragraphs, no matter how many times I hit enter. As you might be able to tell, I wrote this with Chrome... Thus the nasty hard to read paragraph. Are there other browsers that have issues?

I don't have Chrome on my laptop. It's all plastic as near as I can tell.

And since I use FF,

All my lines go where I tell 'em.

I have chrome, IE and this one, that I use for CR4. Apparently there have been some glitches with the latest version of FF on here. This is tiny and it works.

I have the same issue because I prefer Chrome for work but there are a few sites (mostly internal, but some external) that just don't function as intended in Chrome. The easiest thing I've found to do is install the IE tab extension.

With this you can either tell it to open CR4 in an IE tab of Chrome all the time or you can switch over to an IE tab when you want to write a post so most of your viewing is done in Chrome, which is obviously your preference. It's still IE - but you don't have to open a separate browser window - you can stay right in Chrome.

A little side note on chrome:

If you ever run a disk cleanup utility, (I used Advanced System Care), make sure you save your favorites list somewhere first. Some of these will completely delete your list. It happened to me..........and after perusing the web, found out it happened to a lot of others too. There's no way to get it back.

There's also a Firefox tab extension [windows only]

I don't use the Chrome bookmarks,

Use the Bookmarks with my Google account

& the YAGBE Extension to access & bookmark interesting pages.

the google account bookmarks aren't stored on my computer [welcome to the cloud]

I have all my stuff on any computer, after I sign-in

I just read an article in this months Popular Science about the dangers of cloud computing. It's definitely cool. I don't know if I'd store any personal info out there though...............at least not yet.

No personal or highly sensitive or proprietary data of mine will end up in a cloud. I'll keep it all on solid state drives, and flash memory and maybe a few trusty magnetic as well.

No one in their right mind would store sensitive data some place where they had no control over it.

Well... You might be surprised... or not... I've met a good number of people who would be considered "not in their right mind" but that's another topic all together.

My bookmarks aren't sensitive information

I suppose someone could pay my PG & E bill, oh that would suck

oh wait they would still need my password

I don't understand the paranoia

I have a few 100 bookmarks, in 50 categories

you are more vulnerable, using a windows machine & IE, than using google cloud services.

Since starting this thread, the Editor has been installed and works well with Chrome!
