Question about BMS

04/09/2011 11:45 AM

Hi mates,

I am a new comer in this field even I used to work with the DCS one year ago. Now, I have chance to work with the electrical sub-contractor who will install the BMS for the business office.

It is known that BMS is quite similar to that of DCS, isn't it? Could anyone helps by pointing out how many types of documentation or showing me formal design procedure required for this system?

My guess the first thing is about the Engineering basic requirement covering how many I/O included in this system.

For the contractor, they will not need to care much about the system because what they need to do is to do the correct connection according to the connect list. Does this sound right?

BMS ( Building Management systems) are crucial for optimizing building performance.Direct Digital Control (DDC) Temperature Control System along with Motor Control Panels where required are used to automatically control the operation of the entire Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning System together with other parts of the Building Services Installation .A fully integrated BMS incorporates direct digital control (DDC) for energy management, equipment monitoring and control. BMS systems need to comply with protocols such as BACnet (Building Automation & Control Networks protocol).
