Valve Tag

04/16/2011 2:47 AM

Dear all!

as you see, I must use two SS 304 strap to tie valve tag to the Pipe. Strap size is around 0.25mm thickness x 4.3mm width. Please recommend the SS strap type?

Thanks!

"Band-It" is great--I use it for lots of stuff--but the smallest width I found was 1/4" (~6 mm). Maybe I need to look more, because I too could use a narrower choice for a current valve labeling project.

"Cable ties" for wiring are usually made of plastic, but SS304 versions are available. Googling on "cable ties" might give you some examples of suitable dimensions. For large pipes, you might need more than one to reach all the way around.

As stated in the post already, there are so many configuration's that can be had/needed in this type of an application. I currently do this on a daily basis for on/off-control valves-safety relief valves and other pieces of equipment that require tagging specified by customer. Braided stainless steel wire, with the help of a safety wire tool can work in this application great, as you are unlimited to the size and waste is little compared to the different sizes you may need to get with stainless cable ties. If needed a lead headed fastener can be put in line with these that is also available with many different specifications, this is based on what we have to supply on our safety relief valves.
