Magma Tidal Effects?

04/16/2011 3:36 PM

Is there some truth in that Chinese Professor's story about the position of the sun and moon relative to earthquakes? ChristChurch again? Or, is it just the Pacific Ring of Fire?

Does solar radiation have some effect on the magnetism of earth's magma core (lots of iron), and cause some tidal effects in that liquid core?

How does this affect the crust we live on?

It is a bogus theory. Not worth considering for even a moment.

There are so many other variables...it's pointless. The Christchurch and Japan earthquakes were out of cycle for the "Super Moon" we had. My daughters came home from school saying how all of her friends were talking about it and they even discussed it in science class...imagine that...that's good scientific process, I tell ya.

Anyhoo, if one were to measure the actual linear pull at instantaneous values, one would find very little to hypothesize on. It's fast food science...kinda like astrology (not really). There is an effect, but there are millions of other effects which have just as much and definitely more influence in the equation.
