04/18/2011 2:10 PM

Does anyone know which of the SS 18-8 or 316 has higher electrical conductivity?

Thank you

Google is your friend! A quick search shows that 316 SS has resistivity of 7.4x10^-5 ohm-cm, and 304 (also known as 18/8) = 7.2x10^-5 ohm-cm.

In addition to Post #1 I would also add "in an ideal world".

In some applications you would use one grade of Stainless steel over another (seemingly better, ie- lower resistance) due to environmental and corrosion incompatibility issues. Not all grades of stainless steel are created equal.
