Hi, I have recently ventured into elevators segment with my past experiance in conveyors & material handling. the region where i am is a typical place where less of engineering is done and a lot of copycat design goes on.

I had seen that the power capacities used in elevators are quite high as and when compared to conveyor segment.

I was surprised to be suggested with a12.5 Hp power unit for hydraulic lift where to my thumb rule calculation a mere 2.5 hp is suffiecient.

its not is on cloud 9 that i wanted to be but wish to incorporate lower energy units in hydraulic as well as motor traction type. Can i have support for such developments

The only thing I can figure is the safety factor is incorporated into the sizing requirements. Much like the cables for commercial elevators have a 10 to 1 safety factor. That's only speculation on my part.
