Not with correct clearance, refer to your local regulations.

dear,

IE rules states that crossing of cables , there must be a minimum clearance of at least 1.2 mtrs. in depth, & mechanically seperated by RCC tiles.

This is for safety, but, heat dissipation derating is appplied when they run parallel.

refer manufacturer's catalog for derating factor.

Hi Harry,

i think, but not sure, that 1.2m is not required for shielded XLPE insulated cables such as our case here. Am I right?

I would like to know where or under which clause a difference in depth of 1.2 m.is mentioned in IE rules , as it could not be established by the Electrical inspector what vertical seperation is to be maintained in two 11kv cables crossing each other.

I am afraid that your answer is mis-guiding! As far as my knowledge goes, none of the 143 IE Rules talk anywhere about cable laying clearances. If you are authentic, please quote the Rule No.

thanks guys.

I really appreciate your valuable inputs.

ok, i would like to visualize and share with you one of these situations.

cables A&B are new cables. it is planned to make 2 points of jointing with cable C.

Obviously, cable C will be cut and spliced with these two new cables. in this case, cables A&B will cross cable D.

By the way, in local regulations, no clearances, guidances or precautions mentioned to be considered!!
