dear,

IN 3 PHASE AC SYSTEMS,

VOLT DROP DV = 1.732 * I LINE * R * L KM WHERE R = Resistance of conductor

---------------- per KM.

PF L = Cable length in KM

PF= power factor except zero.

VOLT & CURRENT BEING VECTORs, PF PLAYS THE ROLE.

IN DC SUPPLY,

DV = 2 * I * R * L

DEAR ALL,

IT SEEMS, POSITION OF PF & DIVIDER LINE IS SHIFTED, FORMULA BEING UN CLEAR,

AGAIN,

DV = (1.732 * I LINE * R * L) / PF

ALL PARAMETERS AS MENTIONED EARLIER.

NORMALLY, PF = 0.87 FOR MOTOR LOADS, 1.0 FOR HEATERS ETC...

Please refer to IS 1255 (Code of Practice for the Installtion of Power Cables up to 33kV). In this IS, there is a table listing the maximum permissible voltage drop for each size & type of cable, in Voilts per km per Ampere. Take this as a guidnace and claculate for the actual type, size, length & Ampere of the cable.
