Need This Item. Please Help.

05/16/2011 11:55 AM

Please help in our search for this product. Does anyone know where to buy them. I found them under various names, but the use is for a adjustable handle, etc.

I see them under "Rosettes" or "Hirth Tooth Rosettes" They are about 20mm or so in diameter and have small drilled holes to mount.

If you specifically want the item in the upper photo, here is the contact info for RED manufacturing.

NO NO, this is a similar product I'm looking for with the GEAR looking thing. I need the name of the component. NOT The Red company who happens to be the wrong info you sent me.

I"M SPECIFICALLY LOOKING FOR THIS TYPE OF GEAR AND THE CO WHO I CAN BUY THEM FROM IN BULK. They are called rosettes, or Hirth toothed gears. WHO MAKES THEM.

cineZEN, I'd demand that kramarat refund the information retrieval fee you paid him for searching out the information you needed.

You are in the wrong free forum. Why not just beat a hasty retreat from here and go the the free forum where people like to be abused FOR TRYING TO HELP IDIOTS WHO ARE TOO DUMB/LAZY TO DO THEIR OWN SEARCH.

Have a WONDERFUL day!

Come back any time.

You might want to read the FAQ's and spend a little time getting to know how things work, before coming off as a fool.

Not really worried about looking like a fool to someone who is obviously ignorant. Who is the one wasting time here? That is a rhetorical question.

BTW, Kramarat, thanks for your help in the search for info, but Red Manufacturing is not the company who makes those. The reason RED is on there is that is one company who has their name imprinted on these for their application, however it is a different RED , RED DIGITAL CINEMA.

Thanks for your help, and it seems others in this forum are not interested in me posting here, so I'll try to remove this to another post. thanks again

Like most questions posted on this forum, the poster never gives enough information as to the purpose or application to be used. The more information you can furnish, the easier and more accurately can we give an answer. You are asking us to second guess you. We can help, but we are not mind readers.

So sorry for second guessing. I have attached the use of these products with pics here in different applications. I hope this explains it better than I did. Please see how the adjustment of the part adjusts the handle through the serrated gear . I need to find those gears if possible Thanks again.

Does the part at lower left function as a gripper or as a gear? Is the long part at right the handle? The part at top looks like a right angle drive? Is this something that was bought and you want to duplicate it? If so, either you should contact the manufacturer for the source of the part or dissemble the device and have the part copied by the powdered metal process. Make sure that the part is not patented.

Hi, The "gear" part is the only part I'm focused on finding, but it acts as a gripper to another gear so by loosening, you can adjust the handgrip in various different positions.

I own a film gear company and we are designing a new shoulder rig, in which for the handgrips, we will need a similar "gear" to make ours.

The part must be available somewhere as I see it on many different manufacturers handgrips and other camera bodies. here is another pic example with the gear from another co.

When you say powdered metal process, I'm not sure what you mean? Any reference to who does this and what the costs are? Thanks in advance for your help so far.

HA! I should have known by your name; cineZEN that you were somehow involved in video cameras. That will probably be a hard part to track down. If it is used in different forms by different camera manufacturers, they either are making the parts in-house or outsourcing to a speciality company that makes such parts to order. I don't suspect you may need a large quantity of them, so it may be best for you to design a new part and outsource it.

Powder metal is a process of making small parts using metal in powder form and pressed in a mold under high pressure and heat. The part looks like it's aluminum, so it shouldn't be too hard or expensive to make. It can be made by the die casting process or by CNC machining. Check with the following:http://www.zerohourparts.com/index.php or http://www.emachineshop.com/index.php?gclid=CKO0pKm_vo0CFQIpFQodBXLdLQ Other than this, I don't think I can offer any more help.

I would suspect that ronseto is correct; RED Digital Cinema has a proprietary part made for themselves.

In the RED Store, there is a component called a 'Dogbone' that has four of these for $75 bucks. Is it practical to purchase, disassemble, and discard (or set aside) the unwanted dogbone carcass, saving and using the rosette connectors? It appears there are two female threaded, and two that are countersunk for a screw(?).

One more question. The ones I'm seeing to do with the camera industry all seem to have the drilled holes through the serrations and seem to be flatter. Is there possibly another name or company you know that sells something a bit more similar, or do you think this is probably custom manufactured?

If you are in the UK, try http://www.berger-tools.co.uk/series.asp?CategoryID=23&SeriesID=888

They sell blanks, i.e. no holes at all
