Question About Foundation Against Wind Load

05/17/2011 10:45 AM

Yes, as mentioned by the title, my question for this is that I will have to set up a lighting pole (6m high). The strongest wind, I presume that it is about 100km/h.

Before asking, I admit that, I have never done this before. Could you show me some pages that explain about this or give me a good start.

The purpose is to have a most foundation while the pole still can stand against the wind. For most of the designs, I guess that they just follow the same original one. So how to have the most economic one and once it built, we know that it can stand?

Thank you,

Do you EVER try to find any of this on your own?????????? If you had bothered to do a search, you would have found numerous references.

I grow weary of doing your job for you. This is not a free engineering design school.

I concur fully with #1.

Additionally, I do not believe in max. windspeed of 100km/h in a tropical zone. If anything, it should be 200 or higher. Normally, building codes set such values, you have to comply with. Radio tower manufacturers have excellent data for foundations you can start out with, and modify to your need.

Sit down with your team members and work it out. You do have a team, don't you? You have a pole as well? Dig deeper is all I can recommend, much deeper.

I am just trying to look over the small hills. We cannot dig as deep as we can since there is a waste water system beneath the foundation.

You should have mentioned that earlier. The looking over the hills bit is beyond me.

Do you want to use this pole as a lookout?

Any more we should know about?

Good luck

Please state your problem as clear as you can.Having not enough information is a royal pain. Having to much is a luxury, generally.

If you really cannot dig deep, you always can make your foundation wide. It may not be as effective, but doable.

best regards Levente

That was uncalled for. We may disagree strongly, but boorish asses need not be tolerated.
