Polarization Index (PI) Connection Diagram

05/18/2011 9:49 AM

could you advise or post the connection diagram for the polarization index (PI) test for 3 phase, 2 winding, transformer (I am using Megger S1-552 test unit) and what would be the test voltage limit to test (the transformer is 18MVA, 138KV primary and 13.8kv secondary).

Thank you,

You just connect one lead of insulation tester to one of the terminal of the transformer and one lead to the body of the transformer or earth point and do the test.

Is some of the windings has to be jumpered, earthed or guarded or not?
