Apart from the obvious question of why not hot dip what is the coating going to have to protect against and how are you going to apply it?

There are new coatings available to provide better corrosion prevention. Basically they are Zn-Al flake type coatings applied through Dip-spin, Spray or Dip-drain methods. The coatings are from companies like Dorken from Germany and Nippon Dacro from Japan. These coatings are already approved by major global players for automotive, wind mill setctor.

Belzona 6111 will be equally good. Please consult your local Belzona dealer or belzona.com.

85/15 Zinc/Aluminum Thermal Spray with Epoxy or one of the new Polymer Coatings used for Offshore may be an alternative.

Looks a lot better and can be Field Applied by Skilled Craftsman.

You see a lot of this on Bridges in Coastal States and in Oil and Gas Fields.

Easy to inspect and confirm Compliance with Standards and Specifications.

I also find this is more Durable than Hot-Dip.

You can use a primer composed of Zinc-Ethyle Silicate to be applied on steel with surfaces prepared to Sa-2.1/2 and apply an intermediate and top epoxy coat to match with the primer. You can get more details for proper systems to be applied to suit your job from paint producers, such as Sigma, Jotun, Hempel, ... etc.
