Instantaneous Voltage

05/25/2011 12:19 PM

Hi everyone, is anyone can give me the rules concerning the instantaneous voltage of gen set. we have small gen set being tested for voltage regulation from 100% to 0% load. rated kw is 150kw, rated current is 271 amps, 400 volts 50 hz.

during the test we have observed the ff: ( we are using water resistance )

from 100% ( 150 kw ) to 0% kw load , momentary voltage is around 480 volts,

if the current is around the rated ( 271 amps) @ 100% kw load , during the momentary test , the circuit breaker trip off.

on the other hand,if the current is less than the rated , i.e 255 amps at 100% kw ( 150kw) load , during momentary test, the circuit breaker doesn't go off.

Anyone can clarify this ?.Does any rules applies on it?

appreciate any help. thanks in advance.

trip unit is using micrologic. setting as follows:

long time delay 271 amp @ 10 secs

short time delay 352 amp @ 10 secs

uvt voltage 140-280 volts

voltage@ full load 396v

voltage @ 0 load is 400 v

If both LTD & STD are set at 10 sec. why do you call them LTD & STD?
