How to Calculate Pressure Vessel Counter Weight

05/25/2011 1:00 PM

dear all,

i came up with a small issue that how to calculate pressure vessel counter weight.

i have a vessel like separator and the sizes are 144" dia and 60 feet length. head nozzles are 30" and 24" 150# welded with the head and all internals are welded. while rotating the vessel with gear roller, vessel not rotating because due the nozzle weight. so i have required the counter weight calculation to add the counter weight at opposite side of vessel for rotating.

please give me any suggestion and reference website to do the calculation.

please consider the matter most urgent.

Can you send a drawing showing nozzle dimensions, locations and orientation relative to the vessel.

For each large off-center weight, determine its moment (weight × off-axis distance).
To the opposite side of the vessel, add an equal moment (weight' × distance').
