I am sure that you had something specific in mind but this is not a valid question as written. You do not "calculate the service life of a piping system."

The Client, using financial data for return on investment (ROI) decides the minimum plant life. The plant life may be set at 20, 25, 30 years or something far different.

The piping engineer then uses this "plant life" number along with worst case corrosion rates (chemical vs. material) when calculating the minimum wall thickness of the piping systems.

Is this really what you had in mind?

Or was there something else you needed?
