In-Wheel Electric Motors

06/02/2011 2:24 AM

Hello all, I'm trying to build a private model of a scaled-down car using in-wheel electric motors for propulsion. Do you happen to know which motors, COTS, are available as small as possible for the above scale-model and who manufactures them? Thanks in advance for any help.

Call any VA hospital, or any wheel chair supplier. They can give you all the data you need. I just saw my first one the other day, and this veteran said it was really nice. He reached down and pulled the battery pack right out of the wheel with no problem. They were 24 volt, but I forget how many amps. I was interested cause I`m a ham radio operator living off the grid, so naturally my interest was peaked. Hope this helps, Bob KC0VEA

There is a guy in Victoria called Craig Carmichael. He has done some original work on motors in the hub. He is super smart and has done a bunch of other stuff too.

He is Canadian but reminds me of the "British engineer" stereotype from the 1930's to 1960's.
