Heat treatment process will depend on:-

1.Material of the shaft.

2.How much skin hardness you need.

3.Depth of the of the skin hardness.

Material : En19

18 mm Diameter and 175 mm length ( Machining is not uniform)

Requried case hardening depth : 0.1 to 0.15 mm;

Hardness : 500 to 600 hv

For above specification Nitriding is done.

so which paramter of nitriding process shall be monitored and its value.
