Flowmeter

06/04/2011 12:28 PM

Hi

I have an application in which flow needs to be measured on 2"line.Following are the conditions

1)The Flowmeter needs to installed on an MEG injection line to Subsea. So there is a chance of back flow(oil and gas) from subsea .So the flowmeter needs to measure the backflow of both oil and gas from subsea.and the forward flow of MEG fluid injection

2)The flowmeter should measure min and max flow.

Can coriolis flowmeter be used to measure all gas liquid &oil .

Or is possible to use orifice plate with flange tappings and with the help offour tappings .two tappings 45deg down for liquid and oil and 2 tappings 45deg upward. And using two DP transmitters and then giving the signals to flow totalizer.

Can any one please suggest the best flowmeter that can serve this purpose

Thanks in advance

You should be using positive displacement flowmeters, however mixtures of gas and liquid can not be discriminated, so gas liquid separation tanks are needed before flow is measured.

If the flow meters are reversible as you require their outputs can be logged in a count up/count down program against time to give volumes per sec or whatever.

Return gasses should be dumped and or burnt as required.

I suggest you contact flow meter manufacturers also refer to fieldbus infrastructure, remote I/O, HART interfaces, for your programming.

we have in our system where hydrogen gas is recycle through reactor here we have back flow trip as well flow of hyrogen in reactor ,but using 2 different orifice plates

with different Installation on a same pipeline
