08/10/2005 8:30 AM

Microsoft has won a $7 million court settlement from Scott Richter, a businessman considered to be one of the world's biggest senders of spam e-mail. According to Microsoft's estimates, Richter was sending 38 million spam messages a year. "We have now proven that we can take one of the most profitable spammers in the world and separate him from his money," said Microsoft chief counsel Brad Smith.
