HCL Scrubber

06/20/2011 2:11 AM

Dear sir, We have a tank of net capacity of 50 m3 for HCL fluid. During tanker unloading HCL fumes geenrates to avoid HCl loss a scrubber sys. is used. These fumes are sucked by a blower. On what basis the suction flow rate for blower is decided?

Blower flow ≥ (inflow rate of HCl + vapor generated by splashing and heating, as applicable). (Just a guess that seems reasonable.) Why is a blower needed?

HCL scrubber system consist of packed bed followed by blower to suck the fumes & one circulation pump to absorb the HCL fumes.

Blower is needed to suck the fumes gathered in free space of tank.

The inflow rate of HCL is 20 m3/hr. & vapor generated by splashing is estimated by estimating vapor mole fraction of HCL but the suction rate of blower will decide that rate as mostly air will be there.

based on these calculations it is coming 30 m3/hr appx. but of this small size blowers are avilable .

whether size of blower depends upon suction rate or efficiency of scrubber?

bhalchandra,

I have just come from reviewing every one of your posts, and I believe that you are a threat to your co-workers, if this is indeed not homework.

None of your questions reveal any knowledge of the subject on your part.

If you are taking the information you get here, and trying to do such things as scrub HCL fumes, and transport other hazardous materials, you eventually will hurt someone.

How can someone who doesn't know what a day tank is, design one?

There, I'm done. The others will do as they please.
