Sizing busbars on such "thumb rules" such as 0.8A/sq.mm for Aluminium and 1.2A / sq.mm for Copper is very unprofessional and crude. There is a scinetific method of calculation on bus bar sizing depending on the continuous current rating - duly applying all rating factors, the short time withstand rating and the short circuit force withstand.
