GE Model 11 Gas Detector Relay

06/23/2011 8:44 AM

Hi All,

I have a GE Model 11 Gas Detector Relay (1983 vintage) I tried some information and contacted GE Power technical support, I could not get any information.

I tried to Google to get info from the website no luck. All the information it comes is ABB Model 11 Gas Detector Relay. Does anyone know if the GE-Model 11 is the same as the ABB Model-11. (Is ABB bought this Model-11 from GE??)

The problem we have is that when we tried to put a pressure in the test valve, some oil leaks out through the test valve. The pressure changed the state and send the signal to trip the upstream breaker, luckily we disconnected the FT switches to the relay.

I do not know the construction of this relay to figure out how the oil get into the relay? Any advice how to rectify this problem?

Thanks,

I can only guess if ABB bought the relay design from GE, or GE relabeled someone else's relay that now is ABB. However, ABB has a VERY detailed manual on-line that has pictures, diagrams, and instructions. If this looks like your relay, it probably is the same - it's very unlikely that two companies will make different products that look that much alike.

You should also be able to contact ABB tech support. They may be able to tell you if it is the same, and how to deal with your problem.
