Expansion Joint

i notce there is expansion joint for the pipe crossing the expansion joint concrete

could any one tell me the reason

Could you try again? Expansion joints are supposed to control cracking of concrete.

If the concrete next to its expansion joint moves, then maybe the pipe should also move to match....

Yes, if the concrete expansion joint separates, the pipe will have to move with one side or the other, hopefully.

how can the pipe move and its free span- i mean the pipe not fixed with the concrete

only the support move or there is something else
