I read a paper long ago about a process specifically developed for rice husk whereby the husk is mixed with a small amount of fuel oil then dry-distilled in a vaccum reactor.

Note that burning rice husk in free air yields only ash that´ll be much less than 0.5 mm particle size. So it´s carbon that´ll give the 0.5 mm particle size.

The process is not difficult but the scale may give rise to some material handling issues. Pilot plant testing is mandatory to get a grip on the mixing and reactor dynamics.

We have been burning rice husks for decades in suspension burners to make steam and power. As a by product we produce an ash that has been often used in the steel industry as well as in the cement industry and as a first step in the production of fume silica.

Yes, rice husk have a high silica content. I bet that the ash erodes your stoker very quickly. Does it not?
