Can Values Be Assigned to Emotive Assertions?

07/22/2011 12:10 AM

"Nothing says "coward" like posting as an Anonymous Poster, eh?"

The excellent question was recently posed by Roger Pink <authorship attribution, © CR4,2011]

It's probably time we had a thread on quantifying that very facet.

How about we assign a '% coward' to

1. Anonymous Posting (AP)

2. Anonymous GA/OT Canceling (AGAC)

3. other 'coward' uses worthy of including/ranking

This will provide readers, who may find it difficult to know the 'severity' of "coward", from time to time, a straight forward numerical basis of comparison - free of those confusing 'mitigating circumstances' and 'logical reasons'.

This would obviously also be helpful to new users who are already jumping on the 'coward bandwagon'; some with as little as 4 posts.

Perhaps the 'ultimate of comparison' could be Talking Behind My Back (TBMB) as I note, of late, at least 3 guru level members have rated this 'ultimate cowardice'.

Four threads below in the Daily Digest list (as of the moment, anyway).

Congratulations AP1 - on the ultimate torpedo job, copyright theft and plagiarism demonstration.

No one will ever be able to resort to those little uproars ever again (if Admin lets this stand)

HEHEHeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, I love it!

Complete chaos, fabulous precedent for CR4 - I hope you don't get punished

I'll take a crack at it

AP=5%

GA/OT voting = 70% [it's all anonymous]

TBMB= -33.3333% [a negative # since most of us aren't in middle school]

Complaining about valid observations other members make about whatever lame proclamations you just made = 99.99999999999999999999999999999999999999%

Threatening legal action against fictitious user persona's = ∞

Surely the value associated with GA/OT must be low, since it is by design anonymous?

Conversely, the kudos rating of owning up to GA/OT cancelling is high...
