Friends, Is it proper to link or loop the Ground pit for Lightning Arrestor to the electrical ground pit of a building through a conductor?

What does the local code say?

If it isn't connected to the same earthing source, then it doesn't really work as a lighting protection system, does it?

The building would be set at a different potential when a stroke of lightning hits, providing no protection to anything except the protection system!

As stated, the local code will tell you this.

NEC Article 250-86. This provision shall not prohibit the required bonding together of grounding electrodes(loop for building grounding & eletrode for lightning protection) of different systems which will limit potential differences between them and between their associated wiring systems.

By all means! IS 2309 mandates that the Lightning Protection System must be connected (bonded) to the plant services earthing. Even IEEE 1100, IEC 60364 & the IEEE Green Book prescribe the same.
