No Spell Checker in Epiphany

07/25/2011 12:19 PM

My spell checker, bold, underline, and other tabs are not present in this comment window (titled 'Your Message') since I upgraded from Debian5 to 6(Squeeze). What am I missing? I'm using Gnome's Epiphany Web Browser 2.30.6.

I think you have identified the issue:

" I'm using Gnome's Epiphany Web Browser 2.30.6."

CR4 is probably not fully compatible with your web browser. Try Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome (mostly functional in this browser).

CR4 only needs to be compatible with the internet, I can take care of the rest from here. Sure I could try different browsers, that's what I'm doing right now.

That Epiphany eliminated a feature during the upgrade seems unlikely. More likely the feature did not get installed.

Mabey it's proprietary and not included on the eight DVD's of open source software I got for $12. No problem, I can install proprietary software too!

I suppose knowing the language this tool bar was written in would give me a clue.

If you were using Gnome before and it worked fine. It maybe changes to the Debian update which is written on the Linux kernel. In that the others have not updated to the changes. Since it open freeware it may take time.

This could be an issue. Using Iceweasel (Firefox) I could not even log on. Any of the several attempts put me on the Home page as guest. If it's a kernal issue, I'll wait. I can spell. And they don't have an emoticon that describes how I feel.

Kernal is 2.6.32-5-amd64(x86_64) but this should not be a problem. I think it is a plug in or extension that I'm missing, I just don't know.

Have you tried apt-get upgrade epiphany?

Or apt-get dist-upgrade , or -f, or one of the other options in the apt-get man page?
