Matlab SImulink and LabVIEW

04/18/2007 9:46 PM

Hi,

could anyone suggest me about resources for some simple control design and modelling projects using Matlab, SImulink or LabVIEW. I browsed a lot in the web but couldn't get much useful info. if anybody has some, could you please share with me.

I dont know very much only give you a little suggestion here.

Matlab and Labview are all good tool for your practice. if you are only modeling and controlling simulatnous some simple objects or motion machinism. you can use matlab.

in the simulink there are lots of tools for your adoption. whatever you are from engineering, bank or even fruits plant.

if you are lazy just like me and have to set up your own hardwre to implement, youi can select labview, because the ni can offer you both sortware and all kinds of card to adopt your equipment. very convinient and neednt much knowledge. sometimnes I like it becasue I have less skill at my disipline. and have to finish my work.

I dont know what comtrol system you will use? what modelling wiill be?

As I ask the quesiton, sometime the modeling has differnt meaning. such as math modeling and 3D modeling etc.

the last, you can use autocad, edmax and pro/e etc.

as to pro/e I can be helpful, I hvnt used it ever. but I believe there arelots of peple can help you, I hv seen their drawing posted here.

if there is something wrong I said, dont laugh at pls.

I have played with labview for a long time for the same reasons the other colleague here stated. You can do almost everything with it. You can set a .vi that simulates a pressure regulator valve, another one that simulates compressed air source, another that simulates a pneumatic drive, and another one that uses all to simulate a pneumatic drive control. It is easily done by simple equations and numeric inputs and outputs.

Regarding labview knowledge I recommend you to follow the software help, you'll learn the basics. ABout a system to simulate, your imagination is the limit.

To the everyday world and with a current polemic matter, what about simulating a system of a car with regenerative brakes in some operational conditions? You can design modules to simulate baterries, generators, brakes, energy loss by heat, fuel and energy consumption, ... uphills, downhills,... variable car mass and overall eficiency... guy, it would be fun!

Hi guest,

if you`re looking for SIMPLE control and modeling tools I think matlab and simulink will possibly be too expensive - look at their prices and maintenance fees and you get tears in your eyes when you have upgraded the bare program with all the special tools you perhaps need.

On the other side their prices are ok because of their excellent and powerful capabilities, docs and support. When you look for complex modelling solutions you can really save a lot of time - provided that your project covers as much money as you need for this time-saving software.

Another possibility is to look at agilent`s VEE program, a former hewlett-packard- development which is a lot cheaper than ML/S and, I think, also NI`s labview.

Some measurement equipment manufacturers also deliver free software for data exporting to excel which is sometimes ok for simple modelling.
Regards Uwe

If you are looking for a good modeling tool then acslx.com is perfect. They recently reduced their prices and now finally it is affordable. $500 usd

For a simple project, use Matlab Simulink.
