04/19/2007 4:06 AM

Dear Sir,

What could be the reasons for leaking of battery fluid (around 1 ml) from a valve of a VRLA Battery ? What are steps to be taken? Batteries are New, this incident has happen only in one cell (2.2 V battery out off 55 no. of cells), others are seem to be alright. Can I remove this cell from the bank? required system voltage is 110 V DC.

As the sealed care-free batteries work on "Recombine-gases to make water to replanish lost water during charge/discharge process; if the rate of charge/discharge is too high for long time the recombine process can not do as fast as the gases are produced, hi pressure will develope causing leak or even burst/ bulge of Caese.

This normally in Overcharge conditions where the charger is a simple rectifier type & does not go to trickle-charge after full-charge is obtained by battery.
