customised laptops: notepad, reader, compatibility

there are specific latops like notepad, reader, ipad, made customised for particular operation like reading etc, but can we use internet on them as we do on regular laptops, like downloading songs, vidos etc

For the E-book reader yes. Kindle 3 (and likely others). Internet is experimental and limited and don't expect video on an E-paper screen.

Virtually all other modern computers can do what you want and can be software and hardware customised for a particular application.
